[Case Study for Railway Companies] High-Safety Casters Suitable for Rail Travel

Maintain contact with the ground even under difficult conditions! Easily movable with 3-wheel casters! Blickle wheels demonstrate rolling and starting resistance.

The state-owned railway company based in Bern, the capital of Switzerland, wanted to continue using the efficient casters based on Blickle's RD series. However, the wheel width was narrow, and there were instances where the wheels would fall off the rails when crossing them. Therefore, we discussed the issues and width, visited the site to understand the situation, and collaborated with the company to design an appropriate solution, manufacturing a bolt-mounted three-wheel caster with longer wheel axles. The company requested the use of a polyurethane tread "Blickle Softhane" with low rolling resistance for the middle wheel, designed for heavy loads. For the outer two wheels of this wheel (ALST series), we used the dual-layer solid rubber tire wheels (RD series) with Blickle Softhane, which had been widely used by SBB and had undergone sufficient trials.
